What is LinguaLift?
LinguaLift is a web application for students and self-learners which will guide you on your way to mastering a foreign language, and teach you how to learn efficiently while having fun at the same time.
Subscribers have unlimited access to a wide array of custom-built applications—such as the E-Textbook, Kanji and Verb Academy, Vocab Lab, and educational games in the Arcade section of the site—each focusing on a different aspect of language acquisition and retention, ensuring a holistic approach to your language learning.
Can I try your content for free?
All LinguaLift plans include a free 14-day trial which gives you access to every single feature—no credit card required.
How many lessons are in the textbook?
It varies from language to language, but you’ll know the moment you start your trial. Japanese LinguaLift has over 25 chapters of our E-Textbook, each containing around ten lessons, which will each take you one to two hours to fully complete. We add a new chapter each month.
I study with a teacher. Is this website for me?
Even if you are a student learning languages at high school or university and following a regular textbook, there is still a lot of useful content for you to discover at LinguaLift. Although our E-Textbook is perfectly suited to self-learners, it can also serve as a great revision aid, consolidating what you have done in class, and extending your knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure.
Do you teach the real language?
The language we teach is as real as you’d find natives talking. The E-Textbook is jam-packed with native audio recordings of real-world sentences, and the Kanji Academy focuses on the Chinese characters that are used on a day-to-day basis in Japan. Our Vocab Lab, with over 10,000 hand-picked vocabulary entries ensures that your vocabulary is lucid and varied—just like a native.
Billing & account
How much does LinguaLift cost?
The base plan costs $30/month and gives you access to every feature and every language offered at LinguaLift. If you choose to pay for six or twelve months up front, the price goes down to $20 and $15/month respectively. There is also a special 25% discount available for students and faculty. For more information, please visit the pricing page.
How can I pay?
You can use any major credit or debit card through our ultra-secure billing system. If you do not have access to an active credit or debit card, please contact us for alternative means of accessing our great language learning tools.
Is the site secure?
I’m a student, can I get a discount?
Yes! We know what it is to be a student, with a limited amount of money, and a wide choice of equally appealing activities to spend it on. Send a copy of your student card to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll give you a 25% discount on the plan of your choice.
How can I cancel my subscription?
You can unsubscribe in two clicks by visiting the Settings page and clicking ‘Cancel subscription.’
If I cancel my subscription, will I still retain my study data?
Of course! It’ll be there waiting for you until you’re ready to start learning again. You can upgrade again at any time and still retain all of your progress statistics.
What happens when I delete my account?
If you’d like to wipe your personal information, effectively destroying your account, you can do so at any time in your settings panel. The progress statistics and study data associated with your account will still remain in the database, but only as anonymous entries with no personal data. Please note that this process is irreversible and if you ever decide to subscribe to LinguaLift again your progress statistics will be lost.
Why am I receiving a "The transaction was declined. Please use a different card or contact your bank." error when paying?
The error indicates that your bank has declined the transaction. Check the expire date, number on card, name on card and security code. You also need to make sure the billing address matches your card's billing address. Once you have checked all this, try again.
You may also get this error if you have insufficient funds on your bank account, if the PayPal payment gateway has been blocked on your bank account (companies often do this to keep employees from charging stuff from internet stores on their corporate account), or if your credit or debit card is not authorized for international transactions.
What browsers are supported by LinguaLift?
We support every modern browser including the latest versions of Internet Explorer (9 and higher), Google Chrome, Opera, Safari and Firefox. Please note that we do not support Internet Explorer 8 and older as it lacks features crucial to the functionality of the website.
Is LinguaLift considered a website or an app?
We consider LinguaLift a website. In fact, it is a website, plain and simple. That said, some people and Google in particular, started calling more intricate websites ‘applications.’
This trend is based largely on political reasons (in case of developers, a way to differentiate themselves in a competitive market, in case of Google, a way to convince people to switch from regular software to web services which the company makes their money on) and has no implications on the technical level.
In business-circles and technology-circles our website would in fact be classified as SaaS or Software as a Service. That is, we are providing our users access to software that is hosted on our own servers as opposed to the users' computers.
At the end of the day, this is largely a question of nomenclature and has little to no impact on the way the product is developed, marketed or used by our customers.
